I needed a 1/4x28 thread to make a new muzzleloader clean out screw. With the help of Nick & Johnny we found a 1/2L x28 cap bolt which I was able to trim and reshape the head into a straight slot screw.

Lots of reviewers obviously don't understand how Athens Hardware is organized. It's not a typical hardware store where there's a big sales floor with the whole inventory customer accessible. It may have started out that way a hundred years ago, but by the late 1900s it had reorganized as Athens' original *industrial_supply* house, and that's still how it's set up. You don't go in here and browse the aisles for what you want; you go to the counter and tell them what you want, and they go back in their employees-only warehouse (90% of the building) and get it for you. It was more obvious in their old location on North Thomas Street in downtown Athens, which was set up like an old-time auto parts store and they had I mean EVERYTHING. If you needed something odd-ball or better than the usual, that's where you went. It was the most complete, best-run hardware store in Athens. Then that real estate became so valuable they couldn't NOT sell, so they moved out here. That site is all high-rise student condos now.nThey still have lots of stuff, including industrial tools and specialties, and they're still all about personal service.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. This location Carrie's MANY different tools, supplies, and parts. Will definitely be returning.
