Beacon Cleaners

Lost two shirts. First time using them, woman took two shirts, two suits and ties to be dry cleaned. I asked for a receipt she said we would get the receipt and pay when we picked up. She lost both shirts then argued with us she never had them (they were there). Accidents happen, we get it... Just surprised by the lack of customer service or receipt at drop off... I asked her why she didn’t give any documentation when we dropped the clothes off and she stated she keeps receipts for her own record? She said the owner would call us about trying to locate the shirts and they never did.

Like PS, I had a similar experience about a year ago when this cleaner was located on 29th. I was scolded at pick-up for having brought my pea coat (which is a very nice wool coat I use for work) into them with some dog hair on it. I was made to feel very uncomfortable and certainly would have paid extra had I been told upfront about the extra charge for brushing my coat before it was cleaned. Well, I didn't go back to Beacon again until about three weeks ago at their new location. I needed much of my work wardrobe cleaned before a work trip and thought I'd give the new management (owner) a second chance. When I picked up my clothes, one shirt was missing and I was told I'd have to go back the next day (which was not possible given my trip). Another shirt had a pretty significant tear in the front, which of course the employees said was caused by me (which simply isn't true and is not possible, as I always wear a sweater over that shirt and it is not exposed to things which could tear it). The employee said she would keep it so she could show the owner the damage. When I got to my hotel, I unpacked the newly cleaned clothes and discovered that the fasteners on two pairs of my slacks that had been dry cleaned had been torn off, rendering the slacks useless until I get them repaired. NOT happy that I was shorted two days of pants for my week-long meetings. Finally, when I did get home and went to pick up my 2 shirts (one missing and one torn), the employees said the torn shirt was not their fault (of course) and that it looked like the tear was caused by some kind of glue. Yeah, the glue that comes on the back of an iron-on patch or something like that . . . what the heck? Also, apparently my missing shirt was missing that day because it was short 3 buttons; which the employee was kind enough to sew new buttons on the shirt for me. Needless to say, I am going to try and find a new dry cleaners that will not destroy half my wardrobe during the cleaning process.

I have worked with Rodney at Beacon cleaners for a little over a year. You can tell that the management really values their customers experience and making things right if you ever have a negative experience. I highly recommend this cleaners.

Having never been to a dry cleaners before, I didn't know what to expect. I immediately mentioned that before I dropped off my coat. I had gotten it at a thrift store, so it was in poor shape with a fair amount of lint and fabric pills on it. I was told it would be an extra ten to remove it, and I agreed because I work two jobs and don't have the time to do it myself. The entire time, the woman was rolling her eyes, sighing and treating me like a hindrance. I'd rather she charge me fifty extra dollars and treat me with courtesy, or at least feigned politeness.nI left with no farewell or parting, no response to my thanks, and no price quote even after I asked. An hour or so later, I decided I'd rather pay more somewhere else and went to retrieve my coat. The woman was already working on it, so I felt bad and didn't want to be a hassle. I asked if she needed payment instead, and she spent five minutes lecturing me about the poor quality of my coat, how she would never had accepted the cost if I didn't work next door, and so on. I had already agreed to pay extra, and she hadn't mentioned before that there was a policy about that. I apologized again for not knowing dry cleaning etiquette, asked where one can obtain a sweater baller, and she kept pounding in how much work it was for her and that she should have rejected it out right.nI left with more profuse apologies, again no parting salutations, and not once was I either thanked or forgiven or given a smile. I've never had anyone roll their eyes at me so much, and I work two customer service jobs. I don't need to be coddled, but I also don't deserve to pay someone to make me leave the store nearly crying.nI'll pay the full fee, whatever it end up being, but I will never return to this location. What a negative first experience with dry cleaning.

They know my name and I don’t go in that often. They do a great job!
