Gran Quivira Visitor Center

Although this one is out of the way of the loop for going to see the other 2 portions of Salinas Monument, it is totally worth the drive. The area is huge and has an interesting history that separate from the others. We really enjoyed the different construction that was done on this one and just how beautiful the views were from this place. Inspiring

It's the dead of winter, amid the year that isn't, with nearly everything closed. The visitor center is closed except for ...the bathrooms which are heated. With flush toilets. It was sunny and cold because of the wind. This place is beautiful and rather different than any others. We will be back when it's warmer. We had a chilly picnic at a table then walked through the ruins.

Was totally handicap accessible. Ranger directed to walk trail starting to the left, was an easy grade up. Loved looking at the ruins from the past. Much history here.

Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument : Three missions 1 to 1.5 hours to drive the loop. Plan to spend about 1-2 hours at each site. Built almost 400 years ago. GREAT WAY TO SPEND THE DAY!
