This would have been at least 4 stars. However, they have NO SAFETY FEATURES for those with disabilities or lack of ability. The front steps are steep with NO hand rails. I was informed that my father could NOT use the elevator because the person at the front desk could NOT leave their position to do that. NO HANDICAPPED ACCESS WHATSOEVER and excuses when you need it. Do not bring an elderly relative for you cannot get them anywhere EXCEPT forcing them up the most dangerous stairs on earth aside from south America. Just a total loss. He spent THE ENTIRE time wondering if he could get up and down. What a waste. I thought that this was supposed to be handicap FRIENDLY. Save your time with those that cannot access, for roger Williams museum could care less if you access it or not. Maybe pull the funding until they update. And they just tried to apologize. Did they MISS THE PART WHERE THE MUSEUM STAFF *WOULD NOT* LEAVE THEIR POST YO ASSIST US???!!!! No, I say pull public funding until they allow access to THE PUBLIC.n.
Roger Williams Park Museum of Natural History and Planetarium is a natural history museum and planetarium within Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island. The park and museum are named after Roger Williams, the founder of Providence, Rhode Island, and are located on land donated by Williams family. The museum is part of the Providence Parks. It was founded in 1896. The building was designed in late 1893 by Martin & Hall, and construction began the following year. in 1914-15 a northern wing was added, also to the designs of Martin & Hall. The Cormack Planetarium offers regular showings and the Natural History Museum contains a vast array of scientific specimens.
The museum could be so much more! Located right across from the amazing Roger Williams Zoo, the building and exhibits are in sore need of renovation. Investment by the City and State could turn this great turn of the century facility into a true gem for locals and visitors alike.
this museum is my favorite to volunteer at because i donate my fossils there
Great small museum for kids. Excellent price
