This museum is a wonderful testament to the ingenuity and incredible engineering that was the backbone of the US in the 19th century. Even more incredible is the fact that the engines here were in use and supplying Boston with water until 1974. This is definitely worth the quick pit stop for anyone with even the least inquisitive mine.

A hidden gem! I am sad to say that I did not know this museum existed until a few years ago while my husband and I were searching for wedding venues. We instantly fell in love with the history and charm. The HIGH ceilings and brick walls create an atmosphere like any other! It was great to have all of our guests first walk in with their jaws dropped. I love the fact that there is so much local history instilled here and now we have our own personal history that we can revisit in the years to come!

This place is a must see for engineer types, and anyone who can appreciate the human desire to create great things. And isn't that most of us? The Waterworks Museum gives a look into a part of the infrastructure that is rarely seen, and into an important part of Boston history. A true treasure.

Very interesting. Very knowledgeable tour guide, but lots of info if you don't want the formal tour.
