Awesome place with great history and super rude staff
The stories were great and so were the tour guides. The house is not huge compared to many of the other mansion tours I went on. They kept the kids entertained with a sheet of things to find in the house, which was awesome. I'm pretty sure there is stuff missing from the house though. The museum at Mayo has a bunch of Tiffany lamps, and I only spotted one in the house that might have been Tiffany.nnThe grounds are awesome to walk around, although there is a lot of stuff missing from way back. Definitely worth the trip from the twin cities.

Beautiful home and gardens. Definitely take the guided (paid) if you want to learn the true history of the Mayo family. Our guide Janet was fantastic.
The tour is very interesting and Judith is a wonderful guide. I highly recommend it for those visiting Rochester, Mn. By the way, the chess pieces are arranged the wrong way. I do not believe that Dr.Charlie would play chess that way. Prescription: rearrange the pieces noticing that the last square on the right hand is a white one.
