Worth the stop
I'm not going to give the museum a bad review since we didn't get to see it. However, please note that the museum had a note on the door that it is CLOSED FOR ALL OF 2020 DUE TO COVID 19. Unfortunately, I failed to call ahead of time and it is not posted on their website anywhere. It was a disappointing discovery when we arrived. The old phone booth outside the building is cool though.
The museum is great. Get one of the you find it quizzes. Worth every penny.
Great place! My family has a lot of history in Ontonagon. I stopped in today to buy a couple of historical books; one for Ontonagon and one about Victoria, a nearby mining town, now defunct.
We spent almost 2 hours here poring over the treasure trove of UP history! Photos, stories, equipment, books, art, war memorabilia. Not from the area but this museum helped five us a good flavor of the long and rich history of the Keewenaw.
