As someone raised in/near Cedar Springs and educated in Payne School, I looked forward to seeing how my school building was being used. The quality and professional level of the exhibits in the main building and the school were very pleasing and I strongly recommend a visit to anyone who is interested in the history of the area. What a good representation of early days and the Red Flannel era.

I love local history. The Cedar Springs Museum has an old general store and display on Native Americans, lumbering, farming, and railroads. The Payne School was moved to Morley Park in 1971 and has been restored as a one-room schoolhouse. A stump puller, used to remove stumps in the area so land could be farmed is also there. If you love history, check out #DiscoveryMichigan tours and experiences!
