If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was pulled over about 9 months ago and given a ticket for distracted driving, and also a seatbelt ticket. I admit I was not wearing a seatbelt, and was willing to pay for that ticket. However, I fought the distracted driving because I was not using my cell phone. I had GPS running to take me to my destination. I picked up my cell phone while stopped at a red turn light, to see where I would need to turn next to make sure I was in the right lane. And then put my cell phone back on the holder. The cop pulled me over and said he saw I was entering information on my phone. I was willing to show him that it was my GPS, and I wasn’t texting or calling anyone at the time. But he didn’t even look at my phone when I showed him. He walked away and wrote my tickets. So I fought it. Went to court, was able to prove through my phone records that I was not texting or calling. And he said in court that I TOLD HIM “I was entering the address of where I needed to go”. Umm NO!!! I had a couple strokes a few years ago and heavily rely on GPS while driving, so I would have had to enter the address while still at home to even get to where I was when he pulled me over. But because it was at Murray Court, and of course they all know each other, the judge favored the cop and I had to pay. Even though all I did was look to see where I needed to turn next, while at a red light. He was on a motorcycle and had to come to my window. By the time he got to my window, it was already back on the phone holder. I wasn’t even holding my phone. The judge said it was distracted driving. I can’t believe that cops are allowed to enter information on computers while driving, use their phones, and other devices. Also, other drivers are allowed to change a station, eat, drink, put on make up, reach in the car for something, etc.. and it’s ok. The cop lied in court, and I think the judge believed me when I told him I had to have entered the address at home, proving the cop lied in court, but wasn’t reprimanded for lying under oath. He perjured himself and they let him off. Murray police and court is an absolute disgrace! To make matters worse, I am on oxygen, and the part for my tanks broke the night before my court date. I was trying to get a new one before and called them letting them know I might be late or not be able to make it, and they told me if I didn’t show (since it was that day) that a warrant would be issued. Thank god I was able to get the part for my oxygen tanks on time. But I was speechless that they wouldn’t reschedule my court date due to a medical emergency.

Will immediately respond to a call at 3am in a blizzard to track someone down keeping a neighborhood safe while everyone slept peacefully. Best police department in Utah!

The Murray City Police Department has always helped me when I've been in a bind. For all of those leaving bad reviews my suggestion would be....Stop Breaking The Law!

I am the property manager at Metro at Fireclay Apartments in Murray, and we have had a few little things come up here that we had to get the police involved with. These officers seem genuine and seem to care about the community as a whole. they have given some great advice to us and our residents and never seemed rushed to me. They want to stick it out and help out one person at a time. I am proud of what I have seen from this group of men and women in blue. I want to give them a big thank you for putting their lives on the line to serve and protect.

Had to file a simple police report because our car license plates were stolen. After 20 minutes of waiting, a police officer came out and said he would be done soon and would be able to help others. When he saw there were at least 4 other people waiting to be helped, his face expression changed and you could just tell he didn’t want to be there. Never saw him again. Spent about an hour waiting. Lost patience at last because I had other things to do, and asked the receptionist how much longer is the wait. That’s when she told me that since it’s not an emergency, i actually need to CALL to file a report. Seriously? She couldn’t tell me that earlier? Also, when I came in, there was only one police car outside. When I was leaving an hour later, there were at least 10. All they do is spend tax payer money on policing the streets and stopping those who speed, but when it comes to actually helping, protecting and serving, people have to wait for hours. What a joke.
