Got AFO leg braces today and learned I needed to wear them with above-the-ankle hiking boots. Being new to the area, I asked my doc where to shop for hiking boots. He said, “REI, first and foremost.” Boy, am I glad I took his advice! This was my first visit to the Albuquerque store, and I could not have been more impressed. Carley, my sales associate, was very professional, very courteous, and just plain nice. She spent an inordinate amount of time helping me find a pair of boots that I could wear comfortably with my new, quite awkward braces. I never felt rushed and she was very, very helpful. And her product knowledge base is superb! I also got three pairs of new socks that she recommended and proceeded to check out. Grant, behind the register, was equally professional, pleasant, and welcomed me to the area. I still use my Michigan phone number which he needed to confirm my membership. A great guy who just exudes a very positive vibe. I would give this store 10 stars if I could! Great store, great selection of Oboz boots, and really great staff. Absolutely my new favorite store in ABQ!!
This location is awesome. Due to the COVID-19 jazz going on, they are a bit low of stock on certain items in the store, but online orders arrive for pickup very quickly.
Within the last four months, I've shopped in store twice, and I've also had items shipped to this location for pick up twice. Every associate I interacted with was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and very social.
They truly are doing the best they can to provide a great customer experience, and follow all of the protocols for our current situation. The store is clean and well organized, and there are still enough goodies to stop in and dream shop for future expeditions.
I love REI and this location is no exception. The staff are friendly and actually knowledgeable. The store is well laid out and I could browse in there for hours. The prices are high but the service and return policy makes it worthwhile.
Good for more basic camping supplies. They have some good specialty stuff. If you have most your pack together and are looking to fill gaps its a good stop.
The Albuquerque REI is one of our favorite locations. We went just the other day since we were passing through, and Brian was super helpful and friendly! He spent a lot of time with us, which I appreciate. He’s obviously knowledgeable in a variety of outdoor activities and just fun to talk with! Just another reason I love going to REI.
