Decided to visit this museum as a 'quick' morning stop for our 12 yo who is a WWII buff, ended up staying 3 hours...and still didn't see everything! This place surpasses even a major city venue. An incredible museum! Don't let the blank, industrial looking front and formidable secured entry ( ring the doorbell!!) put you off. This is an incredible wealth of WWII documents, uniforms, propoganda and weapons. The use of a self guided audio tour is excellent. And there's even a tank! To top it off, the staff was super helpful and engaging with both of our teenagers. Can't say enough for them! They had a ton of interesting tidbits of information and facts. Definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon!!
This place has the Treaty of Versailles, surrender papers from Japan, Hitler's reading glasses/paintings, and much more. The employees were super nice and even shared some war stories. However, some of the artifacts were from the wrong time period or weren't the right caliber. The fee is also somewhat pricey. Overall, this was a great place to stop at for a few hours.
I’ve been interested in World War Two for a couple of years and it was great to visit this museum. There’s so much packed in each of the rooms. It was amazing to hold the weapons and to know somewhat how those guardians of peace felt carrying those weapons into battle. The Best part was being able to talk to a veteran who had flown missions in a B-17. It was incredible to hear what he had to say about the B-17 as a plane and his experiences. This is definitely one of the best museums I’ve ever visited. It truly is a great museum.
Don't let the non-descript exterior worry you. The treasures inside are absolutely amazing. I have to admit that I initially thought the pricetag was a bit high for a small, local museum ($25 for adults, $15 for kids), but by the time we were done, I felt that it was worth every penny.nnThe artifacts are extensive and extremely personal. There were several pieces that I couldn't believe were actually there. The museum is set up well; with so many pieces it never felt cluttered. Appropriate context was given for what you were looking at, and the audio tour (recorded by the museum's owner) was a perfect complement for folks looking for even more historical background. The staff was also very helpful without being overbearing.nnThe negatives? It looks sketchy as you pull up. It's not appropriately signed. You have to ring a doorbell and be let in, which feels odd. Then, you'll need to fill out a waiver and go through a metal detector when you enter the exhibits. When you leave, you'll go through another metal detector. It all seems odd, but when you see how many valuable artifacts are in the open and not under glass, it's understandable. None of those things are a big deal, they are just something to keep in mind.nnDo yourself a favor and visit this excellent museum!
Have to agree with Bob DeSanto about the gentleman who worked there. My daughter had to leave after a short time, due to a severe flare up of hives due to the mold. For some unknown reason he gave her a hard time during her exit. Very rude!nDidn’t appreciate this especially after we had just spent $125.
