South Texas Botanical Gardens is a nice way to spend a day outside. They have a good array of walking trails allowing you time to take in the sunshine and natural beauty.nnTheir grounds are home to a variety of animals they have taken in over the years and now care for. Its a nice treat for the kids. There is also a fun little playground where you can have a picnic while the kids play.nnIf your looking for something to do away from the beach its a nice afternoon.

A lot of beautiful for a little money. Orchids are the best of the plants. So many varieties and well tended.nThe grounds are amply served with plants from the Southwest Texas area and other areas of the same climate.nThe paths are well planned and abundance of plants all around.nMany birds from South America that had been donated are colorful and friendly.nThe staff is friendly and eager to share what they know.nThis is a family place and outdoors people oasis.

Good layout, good size for a good price. NOT their fault that they're still recovering from that massive TX freeze, so not all of the exhibits were fully restored. Easy to get to, well worth checking out.

Loved the birding trail. It was so peaceful and the tower was a fun overlook. Their collection of orchids is also really impressive. The lady at the reptile house let us pet Ivan the iguana. He was so cute and loved scritches. Really well run center and a pleasant place to spend an afternoon with family.
