A must-visit in Charleston. The tour is carefully planned, fascinating, and begins from the perspective of the many enslaved persons who have lived in the home. Would recommend purchasing the Russell House combo to compare a preserved vs. restored home.

This is a self-guided tour through a well preserved house from the 1800s. Unique to this house is that they tried to keep everything as found rather than remodeled to replicate a home from its time. While we heard the tour would take around 45 minutes, we spent almost 2 hours perusing through the home and listening to the informative audio clips from their app.nnSome areas of the house are still beautiful and you gain a picture into the oppulent lifestyle of the wealthy folks of early Charleston. The preservation of slave quarters remind you that great beauty and great cruelty coexisted in a paradox that is hardly comprehensible. Certainly worth visiting.

This was a fantastic tour. We loved that the home is not “restored” but instead “preserved” as it was found. There is an excellent app based audio guide for a self guided tour. We learned so much about Charleston and South Carolina history. Highly recommend visiting ghee for a good immersion in history.

Great tour offered through audio! Super fascinating how they take the effort to present the house as it's been. Definitely stop by as you're touring Charleston!

Interesting to visit and understand the idea of preserving how a place is instead of restoring it. There is a big difference, and you can understand that when you walk through this property.
