There’s so much to learn. So many cool things to see. Highly recommend going early. They open at 9am so Be there by 9am. It’s gets busy. Their souvenir shop is awesome. So many things to buy. The carrier is awesome to see inside. Beware lots of stairs to go up and down but so worth it.
We spent the better part of 4 hours exploring on the self-guided tours. My father-in-law served two tours on Yorktown in Vietnam and it was a real treat to get to see so much of it (and send him some photos of great memories). An absolute treat and we’d love to come back and spend more time!
Slept overnight here almost 40 years ago. Inspired me to join the Navy. Just went the other day and it was even better than I remember. Touring the destroyer made you realize just how much space the Sailors had.
I have been here twice now and both times were great. My grandpa served on CV-10 Yorktown in WWII and it is wonderful to live in a country that honors her fighting men in such a way. The tours were great and there is plenty of material to read and pictures to see. The planes on the hanger deck are very cool, the flight simulator is fun and inexpensive, and the Medal of Honor Museum is amazing. I also recommend viewing the myriad important documents just past the ship's chapel.
This place is awesome! Well worth the money. So great to be able to share some history with my teenager. From WWII, the space program, and the Vietnam Experience. This helps him understand the struggle that occurred in the past and the sacrifices made. You get to walk on a WWII aircraft carrier and WWII Destroyer.
