This is the closest train to the lower Roxbury neighborhood.nnThe con:nThe station is in a business area (with lots of old & dirty looking buildings) which can be intimidating when walking there at night.nnIt’s in a poor neighborhood that looks unclean and rough. Possibly “crimy” area. So watched your surroundings & be alert especially at night.nnThe Pro:nThe station itself is clean and The Commuter train seems to run on time (every hour ) so make sure you’re at station on time. Get the MBTA app to keep track of this train.nnAlso this station is a Zone A . So ticket is cheaper for this zone especially the monthly pass.nn+nIf you’re heading downtown the Newmarket station is only one stop away to the Downtown South-Station hub where you can catch the Subway (T) lines, buses to out of states etc.nn+nAlso just a 3 minute walk from the Newmarket station is big shopping area with Target , Starbucks, Home Depot etc.
