This is a hidden treasure. Several of the taxadermed animals are part of what little remains, for a couple of now extinct species. An impressive cameo and Kewpie doll collection worth mentioning too. I think I read every plaque!
Very nice museum and a lot of Ozark history with a big firearms collection that is probably bigger than the NRA firearms museum in the Bass Pro headquarters in Springfield Mo. Also don't forget to pay your respects at the 9/11 memorial on the way out of the campus next to the fire department. There are many other things to see and do on the campus that can take several days to get the full experience of the great college and the hard working students who are getting some of the best experience and teaching you will ever find in a college. The college is a great place for students to learn to work in the real world and all without the liberal leaning influence of the other colleges that have been ruining our younger generations and putting our country on the path to a more socialist country.
This museum has a wide variety of artifacts from around the world. Plan to get there early and spend the day looking through the displays. There is something to interest everyone--coins, guns, dresses, quilts, Ozark history, world history, and television history. The original truck from The Beverly Hillbillies is on display and you can have your picture made in it for an additional fee. This is one of many unique attractions on the College of the Ozarks Campus.
This was a really cool museum and we had a lot of fun looking at all the older items. The top floor was the coolest though! Only qualm was the lighting, it was awfully dim and hard to see.
If you like museums you will like this one. There is a lot to see on three levels. There is no particular them just a lot of everything. Cost is reasonable. The staff is run by the college students who live and work at the college.
