Aragon City Police Department

Driving speed limit passed park police car on the side of the road about a min later see the police car with lights behind me (which had to be speeding to catch up) . I was already turning so I pulled over into a person driveway so I wouldn’t block the road. I was informed that he ran my plates and it came back in the Georgia Database I didn’t have insurance. I told him that couldn’t be correct provided my license and insurance card that was in my car. He then told me if he couldn’t verify my insurance that he would write me a ticket and that it was mandatory by Georgia State Law that he tow my car (which is incorrect it is at the officers discretion whether to tow it or have it parked/garaged). I informed him that I don’t have Family in Georgia as well as being a single mom and I am sure my car is insured. He went to his car with my information to “verify”. He came back stating he couldn’t get an agent to verify my insurance so he would be issuing a citation and towing my vehicle. That if it was a mistake in the database that my insurance would refund me for my impounding cost. (I’m not familiar with that being true). This was on a Sunday morning at 730a. The county police had to give me a ride home. I have yet to see anything that says what he did was mandatory when I know for a fact ppl have been pulled over by Georgia State patrol in the same exact spot with no insurance and the car wasn’t towed. Warning if they can’t verify because it’s the weekend doesn’t matter if you have insurance they will do what they want.

The judge here is very rude and is not here for the people. Some people may be going through a hard time and he does not care. They are all about the money and do not take into consideration what others are facing. Ive witnessed him putting single moms that work hard in jail not even caring if they have plans for their children to be picked up from school or day care that day. Do not even visit this town. The cops post up and try to get you for any little thing. Stay away. Its a trap.
