Since I moved to Utah (from Arizona) one thing I have noticed is that many drivers in this state dont seem to understand that you have to stop at red lights. At light after light I see vehicles speeding through the intersection 2-3 seconds after the light turns red. This always seemed very dangerous to me and I have never seen anyone cited for it. Until today. Today I witnessed Sandy PD car 277 pull over an SUV for running a red light. Thanks 277! Please share this process with your coworkers.
The only times I have ever been pulled over, it is by a Sandy cop in a different jurisdiction. Once it was 5 over, and today I was forced into the HOV lane due to someone swerving into my lane and forcing me to be in the HOV. I quickly tried to get out of the lane, but did not cross the double white line. I moved over, and 3 miles down the road I was pulled over, because he did not see anyone else in my vehicle. I explained the situation, and he did not care at all. Rudest cops I have ever encountered, just trying to hit their quotas.
I recently had my personal vehicle stolen, and from the moment of calling in I was taken care of in an outstandingly professional manner. Both officers that I worked with through out this whole ordeal were incredibly kind, and really helped ease the burden of losing my vehicle right before the holidays. After just 48 hours Sandy PD recovered my car and I now have it back in my possession on Christmas Eve. It's a little disheartening to see any negative comments associated with Sandy, because based on this interaction as well as others, I truly believe that we have some of the most commendable, hardest working men and women LEO watching over our community. Thank you for helping me make lemonade out of lemons this Christmas, Sandy PD!
Called about some suspicious activity, they showed up 5 minutes later. Seems pretty dang good to me.
I've worked with multiple officers of the Sandy Police department for various reasons (burglary, being harassed, etc.). Each officer and every encounter was professional and courteous, each situation has enough time set aside for the need. I never felt brushed off or rushed. With almost every encounter I've walked away feeling like the officer(s) did all they could do in the situation to assist me.
I appreciate the hard work and diligence of the PD and all of the officers.
