Truly for the people. Law and order through good judgment by the force. I was pulled over and had a positive experience. Fuse blew and no tail lights. I was pulled over and informed. In the past, this was a reason for interrogation. They asked for licence, regn.....came back quickly and were clearly offering help. I wish my Boxboro experience was as appropriate.

After the second year living in Harvard it was inevitable that I would have another interaction with the Police. My first interaction was a bit rocky. Adjusting to New Englanders I'm willing to chalk that up to culture shock on my part and possibly a bad day on the Sargent's part. I'm positive that they get a fair amount of annoying complaints by the citizens here. There's also real crimes that take place. So the question is do you feel the police in your town will respond, and can they actually do anything, other than make your life more miserable than it already is because after all you're talking to the police.nOfficer Tim of the HPD came by my house today to answer a complaint from my neighbor, who from the signs on thier property may have diametrically opposing views to ours on many issues.nApparently my poor tractor skills in clearing city plowed snow from my mailbox warnted police intervention. So he wanted hear my side of the story. I explained that the snow wasn't blocking any driveway and was on the wayside, I had intended on trying to do a better job but avoiding traffic on the highway in front of my house on a 55 degree day slowed me down. After the neighbor came running over the highway with her little dogs yelling at me about how they had asked me not to push snow to thier side of the street in front of an empty farm field I told her she didn't own the public highway any more than I did, and I doubted they owned the easement between the road to thier farm field that was also completely covered in snow. Shareing is caring you know, but she persisted on being rude since kindness is in short supply in the area of Trumpyness, I promptly decided the sun would do a better job melting the snow than I ever could, and immediately asked her to get off my driveway which is definitely not public property.nHaving heart the whole story Officer Tim informed me that there's actually an ordanance about pushing snow across streets in Harvard. Property lines are open to all sorts of interpretation, so since I sounded like a reasonable person, he made suggestions on how to avoid future confrontation. hHs extensive experience with the locals growing up in the neighboring town, and having worked in surrounding area for quite some time I appreciate the advicenI hope I never have to call the police for a real emergency, But after this conversation Officer Tim, I expect if I do, I'll be treated with respect and some good old fashioned rational, calm, professionalism.
