Palace Hotel

The staff here cares about your experience, and will go out of their way to make you comfortable and happy. I stayed here while riding the Great Divide with a friend, and got to know some of the staff during our stay. Two days after we had left the city, we were deep into the Gila Wilderness, and at the top of a hard climb a car approached us from behind. It turned out to be two members of the staff from the Palace! Recognizing us, they gave us each an apple and cheered us on - made our day!

Old West downtown type Hotel -- narrow entrance, corridors & rooms. Well maintained, now with mini-fridges. Great base for walking the late 19th century core of Silver City, with its old store fronts, shops & theaters. Park right out front -- one challenge is no elevator. Don't miss walking the neighborhood to see the many tile mosaic displays -- public, commercial and private -- really special. Good jumping off place to access Gila Cliffs National Monument.
