This is a great museum that provides lots of information about the Rio Grande Southern and Denver And Rio Grande Western railroads. The volunteers are more then happy to tell you a story or too about these railroads, and the museum also contains information about the location of many historic railroad sites, such as water tanks and trestles. They have a fully operational replica of the original Galloping Goose, that you can ride around their custom built loop, and they will soon be getting a working steam engine as well. Great place to visit, 100% worth your time. They are also rebuilding a steam locomotive

Quaint little museum. They will be moving soon to a bigger facility which will be nice. Quite a bit of history there. Gentlemen who runs it was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions.

Loved seeing all the awesome restoration work they were doing on all the railroad cars.

I have lived in Ridgway for a number of years now and have watched the progress of the museum's new train loop from start to present. When i finally had the opportunity to ride the old mail train with my child and some friends i was appalled when one of the men who helped us board the train shamed a young child in front of everyone for accidentally breaking a $2 frame that was attached to the train at foot level. The young child sincerely apologized for breaking the frame but the man continued to shame him. Then the child cried for the entire ride. As i got off the train i asked the man to apologize to the child and he refused, caring nothing for the child's feelings and not recognizing how abusive he acted towards the child. I will never step foot in that museum unless the man chooses to apologize to that child publicly. I do not recommend going to this musem.
