The portal is no longer accessible by vehicle because of a number of rockfalls. But it's easy to ride a mountain bike or hike. The road is closed off 3 miles before the tunnel.
Easy hike. I loved that I could walk side by side with my friends most of the way. I enjoyed the historical signs and learned a lot! We really enjoyed snacking on wild raspberries and the views were very pretty
A nice afternoon hike from the Pallisades to the tunnel, about a six mile round trip. I wish the USFS would repair the wall and clear the rock slides.
i hope they fix the palisades soon.
