A fun discovery along 82, we enjoyed getting out to walk around and learn about the ghost town. Very quiet, not many people were there when we stopped.
Directions were horrible. We were unable to find the town at all after traveling over 4 hours. Very disappointing.
Definitely the kind of ghost town I've always heard about... Historically significant, completely abandoned, yet lots to see. Plenty of signs describing the background of the town, the various building frames, and different sections of town. Worth checking out!
It was a charming piece of American history. I appreciated the efforts to preserve what is left of Independence and the informative plaques scattered throughout.
Glad to see the buildings preserved. Beautiful place with a great history trail.
