There isn't much to see in the little museum, but it's still pretty neat to see the taxidermy animals. The trails are easy and there is plenty of wildlife to view. They had a scavenger hunt for the kids today and there is a fun area in front that tells about the lives and ways of the native people. Highly recommend bringing the kiddos for a fun nature walk. Leave the dogs at home- service animals only.
This is a great place for a hike. The trails are well marked and mostly flat. The are lots of rocks along the trails but nothing hazardous. There is abundant wildlife roaming around. We saw turkeys, other birds, and lots of deer during our recent visit. In total, we saw about 15 or more deer throughout the nature walk. Our children and our nephew were able to walk the trails themselves (ages 2, 4, 5).
Walk a number of trails, one along the American River. Most trails are level, a few with a slight slope, or areas of unevenness with intermittent river rocks, roots. Interpretive placards along the trails inform about the plants, animals, fauna and flora.nParking fee, else purchase an annual pass.nEYN Center has gift ideas, more interpretive displays, information. Definitely a family friendly area.
This was our first visit to the area (and certainly not our last). My daughters and I walked the trails around the nature center and walked over to the river. The trails are well maintained and easy to walk. Beautiful natural setting. We saw a few deer on our walk and we were met by quite a few wild turkeys as we were leaving. It was such a fun experience!
Awesome natural habitat with so much deer! I love this. Now I have a place to escape to.
