I was painting faces for a party here and I barely painted any faces because the kids were having so much fun running around that they didn't want to stop to get their faces painted. Usually I'm so busy at parties I don't even get to think about where I am. I stepped away from my supplies to walk around and it was really neat the level of diversity the place had. Plenty of things to not only play on, but learn with. There also were lots of activities for different age levels. And the whole place was painted and decorated really beautifully. I wish I had taken pictures to share. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone I know with kids!!

I have a 4yo and a 2yo and they were both entertained for a few hours. All the exhibits are on one level and it's easier to keep an eye on your kids compared to other museums like Madison children's. Both serve their purpose, but if you're looking for a more laid back experience for you ( caregiver /parent) them give Black Earth a try.

Great place to take younger kids especially during cold winter days. It has more interesting things for littles to do than large city children's museums.

Lots of brain stimulating activities for the smaller building size of other children's museums in this part of Wisconsin. I would say this is probably the best out of them all. Everything feels safe for children and it's not as stressful as some of the other places. There is even a soft play area for babies that we noticed when taking our eleven month old. The constellation room is really neat for children that have never had a chance to see a planetarium. If you are stopping through Black Earth, do yourself a favor and take the kiddos here, they will sleep the rest of the drive.

Very nice small town feeling.
