Granville Police Department

My name is Sophia M. I am a female student at Granville High School. Many people have come to me with complaints of domestic violence and from what I hear it is that every single officer not only listens to the parents but they will also accept lies from these parents and not listen to the children from their point of view. I have seen bruises and scars on my own friends’ bodies and they tell me that “yes it was my parent who had abused me and my parent had contacted the police to report something that I did. It was something that was not illegal, but the action that I took was bad in their eyes and the police would listen to my parents and they would not listen to me. When I told them my parent had abused me by force because of the certain action I took they simply did not believe me once my parent told them what kind of kid I was/am”. It shocked me to hear this by not only one person but many people. Going along with my own story I was in the 8th grade when a man tried to impersonate my friend’s older brother and asked me and several others for nudes. This person used Instagram to target me and other people. He had asked me for nudes along with my friends and the next day we came right into the principal’s office reporting what had happened. The Granville Police Department then got involved and dropped my case with no words left. My mother and I were shocked because not only did your officers not help my mother and me but you let this scam account continue to exist on Instagram where this certain person could have targeted someone else. It was then deleted by the owner of the account several months later. My mother and I are not impressed at all with how your officers handled that situation. Children are supposed to feel safe. Listen to their points and their views. Domestic violence and impersonation are both extremely horrible and illegal things. Allow kids to feel safe by talking with them about the situation and not just dropping the case. A child could be in serious danger right now because of your officers not listening to the entire story. Domestic violence must end and we need your help to make it a safe place for all children and adults. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I mean no harm. It just really hurts me to see my friends in serious danger. I have helped them by talking it out with them and I have even contacted help for them. I am still a child and can not do much to protect people but I sure know the difference between right and wrong and when someone needs help, it is the right thing to do by chiming in and help them until they are healed. Thank you.

I drive a semi for fedex last Sunday night I broke down in the intersection of 16 and 36. A Granville officer was there right away. They were very polite and professional! Thanks for your service! Greg
