An excellent railfanning spot is in the neighborhood across from the Amtrak station. Nice, clear photographing location. Be considerate of the neighborhood if you go there.

Quaint little station. Clean and well lit. Restroom usually open during Lakeshore limited departures. Never had a parking issue. Lots of taxi activity on arrivals. Regularly patrolled.

Came here to p pick a friend up who came beck Ferro on Colorado on the bus. Crazy.

Another rater mentioned that there is no secure parking and that being a downfall, but that's not necessary. It's a vast parking lot that has more spaces to accommodate actual people that arrive and depart for the train anyway. I can't speak for Greyhound service...nSince they no longer have it that you have to call the police for the station to be unlocked, I would have had peace of mind knowing that it's monitored or patrolled since there is no employee on site. It's scary sitting there if your train is delayed & you're departing, that's what happened for me the last time I was there. 5/2019
