We walked around the outside of the house and the garden. We didn't your the inside. We still enjoyed ourselves
I took a 4 hour detour to visit the site while going to New Haven. It was totally worth it! Basically you can feel her poems in the air. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Keep in mind that self-guided tour is not allowed. For a bonus, the town was wonderful, too!
I have been a fan and a teacher of Dickinson for many years. The hour tour was amazing. Loved Zoe, our guide. So insightful. Made me see with fresh eyes so many new things. The house has been on my literary bucket list for a long long time. Well worth a visit, even if you're not into poetry. And if you're not, why not? Will teach Dickinson in a whole new way.
The tour was wonderful it was really informative about Emily's life
Excellent tour guide. Knew Emily's life and family in great detail. Knew the houses and their history and even recited some of her poetry. No photography allowed. There are steps, so limited wheelchair access. There is a small gift shop as well.
