My peeps said I had to try Amato’s Italian Grinder. I like Italians and I like Grinder so why not?nThe overall experience dampened by enthusiasm. The store is more of a convenience store atmosphere so expect zero ambiance. The cashier was pretty hot on the outside but rather empty on the inside bordering on New England rude. Brewed tea? - no way grab a canned drink. Quality chips offered- not really.nnThe grinder looked delicious on the outside but had standard processed meat. The olives were nice as were the peppers. I am usually critical of bread, but is was soft and very fresh. The crowd was more the food stamps crowd than the hipster foodies Portland is known for so I give it an average rating overall.

As a Chicago born and bred Lewiston ambassador, at first I was a bit averse to replacing my ham Italian and BMT. But like my whiteheads, Amato’s is growing on me! They pack more meat than a veteran sandwich artist, and full olives, not chopped on that Italian! Plus, they keep those jalapeños spicy enough for the perfect mix of endorphins and heartburn. Magnifique!

Their original italians are not like they used to be a few years back. it's not that good , although there service is great!

As always, Amato's is awesome! They have the best Italian sandwiches I've ever tried, veggies & the bread are always super fresh, & anything else I have ever gotten off of the rest of their menu is equally delish! Plus, they have friendly employees!

Gross. There was little to know cheese in my wrap. Tomato’s seemed almost rotten. I couldn’t even eat them. The wrap was wrapped very poorly and was leaking through the bag. Most of the employees had masks but the taller guys mask was down around his neck. I hope next time I order the wrap, it is good and I may enjoy it.
