Hurricane Police Department

I was in Speedway in Hurricane on Christmas Eve evening and a policeman approached me as I was pumping gas handed me money. I couldn't see what it was but 50$ bill from city of Hurricane. Merry Christmas to all and happy New Year. Thanks for being so kind. I had my 5yr old grandson and he is scared of cops. So I told him they aren't mean cops. Must of um are very nice.❤Thanks again. Ever since I was a child I have loved and respected police officers for serving the community. Hurricane PD has turned me against officers. They are rude. They do not care about the community they serve in. In just the past year I have seen firsthand how the younger officers treat people that are not hostile in any way. The older officers seem to be genuine and do a good job. As far as the young officers go they are some of the worst human beings I’ve come into contact with. The shorter officer with the goatee on multiple occasions with family and friends has been extremely hostile and does not seem to care about respecting others. As someone in the community I want hurricane to put their best foot forward and I feel as if hurricane PD does not do this. I hope the best for the officers and hope they change their attitudes in the future as well as staying safe.

Completely unprofessional department.

I generally respect law officers and the dangerous job they have to protect and serve but Joshua Lucas was the most unprofessional officer I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. We got pulled over for a traffic violation and politely informed him when asked that we had nothing illegal in the car (guns, drugs etc.). I kept my hands on the dashboard the entire time to make him feel safe and not threatened in any way. He could have brought back the ticket with no problems but we were discriminated against due to our appearance. My girlfriend was driving and he made her exit the vehicle on the side of a very busy interstate, unnecessarily putting her life at risk. He accused her of having something to hide and proceeded to ask inappropriate personalnand relationship questions. He also asked how long we have been together and if she ever knew of me being addicted to drugs with no reason to do so except for our physically appearance. I'm in medical school so I have no money and can't always afford a nice outfit. I am considering finding a Johnny Cochran to help make amends for the emotional distress this officer unrightfully subjected us to. I feel as though the city of Hurricane will have many lawsuits on their hands if they do not do an internal investigation in the near future. If you ever need help from the police please go to the state police because these officers are egotists that just wish they were capable of actually being troopers. I have never had a pleasant encounter with the city police but the state troopers act like real cops in my experience.

Very unprofessional dept!! Desperately needs new leadership!!
