After attempting to unclog a sewer pipe on our own and being unsuccessful, I called Don's. I called at the end of the day on Monday and they were out at my house first thing Tuesday morning. After an hour and a half or so of work, our clog was fixed. The cost was very reasonable, and I'm very grateful to Steven and Barry for the wonderful work they did. I will definitely be using Don's again in the future should any other plumbing problems arise, and I would recommend them over other plumbing companies in the area.
I would recommend Don's plumbing to anyone I haven't had to have him for a while though
This was a colossal waste of money!nI have an old home I'm trying to restore and live in. I knew every pipe needed replacing. And I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. I called them to see what needed to be done and how much it would cost.nBut in just a little over 2 hours, they dug two holes, stuck a snake down two pipes, and looked under the house. The conclusion was basically: yep, you need new pipes. Ok, that'll be 700 dollars.nOh and by the way, one of the guys walked off the job for a good 45 minutes and just dissapeared.nThey will not return our phone calls. And they have not got an estimate. That was 2 weeks ago.nThat was 700 dollars I cant afford to spend for absolutely nothing!!! And I am left with absolutely nothing more than what I started with before I called!!
Complicated. Let me say why I gave them four stars. The results were nothing short of wonderful. Our heat pump had never been installed properly by the builder. For 4 years we had to use window AC units in summer and on really cold days bathroom heaters. The outside unit would freeze up and never defrost. Pinched pipes. They ended up replacing the whole air handler for $2400. Way more than I expected to pay, but I didn't realize how bad the original instalation was. The difference after Don's worked on it is unbelievable. They are very professional and great people to work with.nThe last times I hired other heating and plumbing places, they nickle and dimed us, though those guys were $50s and $100s. You had to pay for an apprentice to stand around watching. When Don's needed 2 guys, they were there, when only one was needed, the second guy left for another job. All of the cost seemed pretty normal.nI knocked off a star because of how long it took. I had my work done in the early fall when the HVAC was not needed much. It took two weeks to get it repaired and Don's is a good sized business. First they tried to get a replacement evaporator coil, that was a 3 week lead time from American Standard. So for $200 more they would replace the whole air handler. Well, that was a mess. These things are modular. The fan unit, the evaporator unit, the emergency heater unit, and amazingly the filter unit is a separate unit. None of it would fit with the old components. Lucky for me I built a big filter box that I could change through the kitchen floor without going into the crawl space. So you start at $900, plus labor, and material, and keep adding hundreds of dollars.nThe problem I have is, who can go without heat for 3 weeks in winter? And worse I could get a left gold plated engraved nose inhaler shipped in from Nome Alaska in two days. Every HVAC house I have been in has new air handlers by the score. They come in like 6 sizes. Why the heck did it take 2 weeks to get something sitting on the shelf? And why did I have to keep calling them every few days to get status?
Rob showed up 3 hours after initial call for our air conditioner on a 90 degree day and was already working on fixing it by the time my husband arrived. He explained everything he was doing in detail and gave some tips for future use/maintenance. Was very nice, polite and helpful. Did a great job, got us back up and running within the hour.
