My daughter of African American and this school is majority Hispanic. I never thought this would even be an issue because race/color isn’t something that my family judges people based on but apparently that’s not the case for all families. My 7 year old daughter was bullied everyday by all the kids in her first grade class. She ate lunch by herself, stayed inside for recess and came home crying to me multiple times because the kids would say “she’s too black” or “if you touch her you’ll turn black” I went to the teacher and principle multiple times to try to fix this problem and maybe talk with the kids but it continued to happen and I had to remove her from the school a month before the school year ended. This was a very sad and traumatic experience for us both. They should teach more diversity at this school.
I went here pre-k through 5th grade I loved all of my teachers
Attended De Zavala from 2nd grade to 5th grade, great teachers who care and enjoy their job.
Been a good school for the pass years from 3-5th grade
