Hugely convenient place to pull into when you snap the crankshaft in your Ram Ecodiesel. We coasted to a stop in the middle of the lot and because it was so busy, we were able to quickly round up 3 or 4 people to help us push the truck into a parking spot. Everyone else sure looked like they were having big fun until the tow truck arrived sending waves of panic through the throngs of illegally parked vehicles. All was fine when word got out that we were the only ones being towed. Definitely on my list of places to revisit with appropriate gear for tubing and general water fun.
This is a nice area to stop when out with your family. It has picnic areas close to the parking area, and there's a little cemetery as well. There's a path that also goes down to the river. I took my kids down there, and they enjoyed playing a little bit in the water. I would bring them back for a little side trip when in the area because it does offer nice views and can be a relaxing interlude for a busy day.
Nice rest area. Picnic tables. No facilities. Next to the river.
Had an great time here with my family. You can swim in the river, relax and just enjoy the mountain views. Charlemont overall is a beautiful small town.
