ReConstruction is expected to last from May 2019 until 2022 (unknown extensions now due to COVID-19). We experienced the park before closures and it made for a fun place to explore with the kiddos and run with your dog. There’s also some pretty beach access, though the higher tide covers most of the sandy potion of the beach and goes up to the trees. It’s actually a fun place to take photos, though the insides of the Fort were especially run down... hence the reconstruction. There’s plenty of local lore and ghost stories if you visit your local library (the closest is the Saint Helena branch you’d have passed along the way to reach this Fort). Would definitely recommend checking the place out once it reopens. We’re excited to see what changes have been made.

As of February 11 when we went to visit the fort was posted it was closed as of May 2019 until further notice due to construction. The site is completely fenced in and there’s obviously construction on going. I would make phone calls before making a long trip there as we did. Looks like a very interesting site once they get done with it

Mostly locals and families. Great place for an afternoon away

It's probably cool. Been closed for over a year.

The Fort is currently closed (July 2020) for construction and renovations. It has been closed since May 2019 and will be closed till 2022 or longer.
