This is closed due to COVID. In the middle of a neighborhood.
Enjoyed the Gullah Festival that was held here and loved all of the history and memories that folks shared. The history and the culture truly needs to be preserved and that's what they're doing. I'd definitely visit again for the next event.
The food was wonderful as was the service!
It's a teeny tiny thing and if you don't call ahead you don't go inside. But it's evocative,a time and strength.. It's good to be next to things,pictures can't give you scale and presence.
My grandmother was born a slave in 1853 in Lowcountry South Carolina. (Orangeburg)? In doing my family research I found women and men in my family were brave and strong. According to my father, who was born 1895 during the Jim Crow era. They had to tolerate and endure brutality from their task master just to survive. DAILY!
