If you are a real history buff or just love hearing about facts that were never taught to you, visit this place.nShe was an amazing woman who accomplished a lot of things at such an early age. She surpassed so many obstacles placed in her path. The things she did and the people she entertained. Her Uncle was Nat King Cole. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. The inside of her house was beautiful. If you wish you can tour the entire grounds and read about each section of it. We did this on a Saturday to get out of the house during the fall of 2020 Covid lockdown.
One of 27 NC State Historic Sites.nnWhat Dr. Brown accomplished for African American youth in the early 1900s is nothing short of ridiculous. I won't detail much about it as that would ruin it for others who may like to view her campus.nnI don't know who showed me the Canary Building and visitor center today but she was knowledgeable and liked her job.nnOne of the halls is still used for receptions and weddings. Well preserved and good upkeep.nnGreat for field trips, if you have a couple of hours free, and for those interested in history of the segregated US South.
Always planned to check this place out. Went there for a wedding as a groomsman. Place is awesome and the story is amazing.nnThe people who were there to assist us from the management of the place were great at their jobs.nnYou can rent this place for events. Its a nice spot and well put together.nnHope they continue to preserve it but do mor to promote it.nnUnfortunately Ive moved all the photos from my phone.
Part of my Soul!!! Beautiful place to explore with family!nI’m sure we still have teachers with unwavering passion as Ms. Hawkins did!
My family and I took a tour with Jamie, and absolutely loved it. To learn about all that Dr. Brown did we were blown away. Jamie took us on the tour, she educated us on a lot of what Dr. Brown did, and even gave our children pop quizzes which I thought was good, she kept them engaged. This place definitely needs to be a place where everyone should visit. You won't be disappointed. It also has a picnic area also in case you wanted to tour and eat after, beautiful area to enjoy a nice picnic.
