Cool little art museum tucked away and hidden in the middle of nowhere. Worth checking out if you're passing through Winston-Salem :)
Great place! Really loved the space and the artwork. Admission is free (donations accepted) which is nice and the staff there are friendly and knowledgable. Great blend of history with the Hanes house and also new installments of art every couple of month. Would recommend.
I love going to SECCA. The building is beyond beautiful. However, I hate how some of the staff make me feel unwelcomed. I understand, you must watch people to make sure they are not touching the art pieces. But as a POC - I can tell when I am being followed from space to space and I notice when others in the same space are NOT being followed around. If you are going to have art by POC, treat the POC in the space with respect. And stop adding to my anxiety when I visit. If you are watching me, please know I notice and I am watching you. I did that last weekend. When I visit with the school, there’s no problem but when I’m alone with with someone else that looks like me, there’s a problem. You can’t have POC art and then also make POC feel physically on welcomed. Actions speak louder than words....
Absolutely Amazing and Winston-Salem’s best kept secret. Who knew you could take the kids fishing here as well. If you have not seen the Old meets New here you don’t know what your missing. I very much enjoyed my visit here. So much talent under one roof and So much history too. Who ever came up with the idea to take this Historical site and make a contemporary art museum out of it must have been thought to be crazy whenever they purposed the idea,nI’m not sure if it was a group or one person’s plan , but now must be considered true genius and I couldn’t be happier for the successful work that surly will inspire all that visit this wonderful place. The Staff here most of what I gathered are volunteers and the most helpful nicest, considerate people ever put together Thank You so very much I will share this with family and friends for years to come.
Nice place to congregate a small church group even during covid19
