A friend told my wife and me to come see the monument to Ms. Hamer. My first memory of her was seeing the broadcast of the 1964 Democratic National Convention when she was a leader challenging the credentials of the racist mainstream Mississippi Democratic Party. The Monument has a wonderful statue of Ms. Hamer and just enough text to give you the goose bumps. She was truly courageous and a real American heroine.
Great monument for an amazing woman. There are not, however, any benches.
Truly a must-see place. You can feel the power of Fannie Lou Hamer’s life and legacy when you’re here.
One of the most important women in history and probably 1 of the least known
Very nice Park established for Ms Hamer. It's located right in the middle of the community she served.
