Villa Philmonte

Great history. Great scouting heritage. Many thanks to the Phillips family for their generous donation to the Boy Scouts of America.

The Villa is a must-see every trip to Philmont. First off it is free. Second it only takes an hour. Third it gives a great perspective on life in the west before a/c. Most importantly, it gives the boys the story of Waite Phillips and what he and his family means to Philmont and the Boy Scouts.

Besides being one of the top Scout destinations with training opportunities and mountain treks to boot the villa was a delightful experience of America history in an unexpected venue. The legacy of the Phillips family lives in through the thousands of youth and adults the facility offers each year. We will be back for more!

My husband and I didnt get to go inside the Villa, as we missed the tour times. They are from 10:00am to Noon and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The Villa gardens are stunning! I was very inspired by the beauty and creativity of this place!

Awesome facility. If you are in the area, take the time to tour the Villa Philmonte. Waite Phillip's not only holds an important place in the history of Scouting in the United States, but also was significant in the American Industrial revolution and the settling of the West.
