National Scouting Museum

Think you'll be able to access all that beautiful wilderness once owned by the citizens of New Mexico? Think again. It's all private.

New museum (2018). Beautiful, spacious building with a library and historical items about the history of scouting and the area around Philmont. Many of the items bring back memories of how much I love scouting. The docent was friendly and helpful.

Really interesting museum. We wanted to take some tours, but didn't have the time to wait (an hour and a half) for one. Next time we are in that incredibly beautiful area, we will plan ahead for a tour!

Detailed exhibitions with great resources. The kind people that work there are more than willing to go above and beyond to answer questions, take comments, and explain what scouting is about in true detail!!! Highly recommend!

Great exhibits, plenty of water, topo display of the region and library. Lacks the complete historical background description of the area. Without this some of the displays seem disjointed juxtaposed next to each other. But if one has the background, it all makes sense.
