Boo! Jonas Clark did an inspection for a home purchase in May. When I got the video of the inspection it was obvious it was the wrong house. I naively paid the invoice thinking that it would help me get he correct video faster. I followed up with and email and phone calls. I heard nothing back. The time allowed in the offer for the the inspections elapsed and I had no idea if any of the assessment was correct.

I have sold two properties in the past 13 months where US Trenchless, Inc. performed sewer inspections for buyers under contract. In both inspections, US Trenchless called out numerous bogus problems that were not true. Below are the reports from US Trenchless and findings from other plumbing contractors I hired for second opinions.nnUS Trenchless. “SEWER LINE INSPECTION REPORT. NOTES – 12.01.2017 16:05:40 HRS Jonas Clark: Accessed line via 4” cast iron two way cleanout in front yard. Imaged upstream towards house and found a failed joint under front concrete patio. Imaged line downstream toward street and found failed joint in front yard. Recommend repair two bad sections of sewer line. Cost: $4882.00 includes concrete work.”nnAffordable Trenchless & Pipe Lining. Sewer line inspection & recommendations. 12/8/17. “We ran our camera through the 2-way clean out at the front of the property in order to inspect the condition of the sewer line. We found there to be cast iron pipe underneath that holds water and is rusted. There is also ABS pipe underneath, then connects to ABS pipe that runs toward the street. Approximately 1 foot behind the 1 way clean out there appears to be a small section of Transite pipe. One of the joints in the sewer line after the 2-way clean out has a tree root. Recommendation – replace existing cast iron pipe approximately 10 feet.”nnCONCLUSION: I replaced the 10 feet of rusted cast iron pipe under the home that US Trenchless did not find. We removed the tree root without tearing up any concrete. There was newer ABS plastic pipe in the front yard that connected to the city sewer tap that the city had replaced as the sidewalk and street had been cut and replaced with asphalt.nnUS Trenchless. “SEWER LINE INSPECTION REPORT .Notes: 08.20.2018 14.36:58 HRS Jonas Clark: Assessed line via 3” Asbestos cement roof vent at main soil stack. Imaged building drain and a portion of the sewer line (yard piping). Encountered a large amount of resistance/drag due to debris and obstruction in line so could not advance camera all the way to main tap location. Existing sewer line is Asbestos cement and is completely dilapidated. Observed sags/bellies in run, root intrusion, open/failed joints. Recommend replace sewer line from area at break to tap. Cost for Work: $2,488.00.”nnExpress Sewer & Drain. 9/26/18. “Performed TV inspection. Line is constructed with cast iron and ABS. Line appears to be in good condition with no visible defects.”nnCONCLUSION: The US Trenchless video only went about 36 feet before blacking out which may have not extended past the building foot print when starting from the roof and going through the attic and house. Express Sewer & Drain went through the cleanout in the garage and found the cast iron sewer line (not asbestos cement as claimed by US Trenchless) to be in good shape (not completely dilapidated and no sags/bellies, root intrusion or open/failed joints as US Trenchless said). I did discover a buried cleanout in the front yard which we extended above grade and there were tree roots in the city easement that the city eliminated by cutting the sidewalk and street and repaired with asphalt.nnBuyer beware!
