Dover Police Department

Here is my experience with the Dover Police Dept. Back in November of 2011 I used to work for Parkway Honda in Dover. One night I was waiting on my ride Horizons which is a transportation company in Dover to pick me up to take me home. I had got off around 10pm on a weekend a Friday. I lived in Uhrichsville at the time. Anyway I'm just waiting on my ride minding my own business. Now this Dover cop pulls up asking me questions. Like what am I doing and what my name is. I told him my name and, I work for Honda I'm a detailer I just got off work and waiting ony ride to go home. Now his lights are flashing and people looking. He goes on to talk about cars being stolen off the lot. I'm here thinking i'm under a bright street light in plain sight waiting on a ride. About that time Horizons pulls up he asked was that for me I said yes. He said ok and, I got on the bus. I have not gotten my uniform yet it was being ordered. So I kind of let it go maybe cause that was the reason. Now the second time I actually had on my uniform. Honda on one side and my name on the otherside. Navy blue pants and a sky blue shirt. I was waiting for my ride outside 10pm under a light for Horizon and my entire uniform visible. and low and behold here comes the Dover police lights flashing he asking me simular questions. This time not only did I tell him I work at Honda I pointed to my uniform I was wearing smh. Like I'm gonna steal or vandalize a car lot owned by a dealership that I am employed by really smh. And about that time Horizons shows up.The next day I told my boss everything that happened he was furious. He gave me his card with his numbers on them and said the next time this happens give the officer my card and tell him to call me. Well after the second time I did not have no more issues. Honda must had delt with the situation. It looked like there was gonna be a third time but the cop just drove by me that night. Parkway Honda had my back. If it happened again Honda would have delt with it. I'm a black man and the way the Dover police treated me I felt offended and discriminated against. The New Philadelphia Police Dept is the same way. Dover Police Dept better be lucky cause I have a aunt who works for the NAACP and, I know some people who work for the ACLU. I'm not a criminal. I'm a man who was just wanting to support his family. So that is my experience with the Dover Police Dept.
