Very interesting space and beautiful building! The death row exhibition that's on at the moment is very powerful. Some nice gifts in the museum shop on the ground floor, you can visit the shop without going to the museum. Third floor is currently closed. 4 stars because the museum guide wasn't working and as a result I felt like some of the exhibitions lacked context.
Breathtaking building in New York, also really enjoyed the photo the different arts on each floor, start from the top floor6 and make your way down, I fond this works better if your walking and using the stairs. If you would rather take the elevator then you can choose as you desire. Also nice shop and coffee shop at entrance.
Bucking the trend of some other reviews: I was really disappointed.nnThe top floor is basically an events space with about 10 images on the walls.nnThe death row exhibition was interesting but not really what I'd imagined at a photography museum, as it was audio/video based.nnThe next floor wasn't really for me. And that's... it?nn2.5 floors of exhibits.nnIt costs $24 to enter, which puts it in the Met category, and I was out of here in less than 30 mins.nnLooking at the reviews, though, lots of people love it. So take my opinion with a grain of salt on this one!
I attended for their PASSAGE guided meditation event and spent a bit of time exploring the museum exhibits. PASSAGE was excellent and a much needed recalibration after a long week. I wish I had more time to explore the exhibits. Martin Schoeller's Death Row Exonerees was powerful and I will definitely be back to spend time with the exhibit. The whole museum space is beautifully designed and I felt immersed in the works instead of separated from overly precious works.
A beautiful experience of rotating exhibits. Great experience walking through and gorgeous pieces. Highly recommend for photography and art lovers alike.
