Mendham Borough Police Department

About a year ago, I was driving through Maryland looking for a gas station as I was on E. I pulled off and followed this car to a security checkpoint where I tried to turn around once I realized I couldn't drive through. Before I could turn however, a police officer got out of the booth and up to my window asking me what I was here for to which I told him what my situation was. He then told me that he needed me to pull off to the side where cones had already been set up and then put my hands at twelve o clock on the wheel. So I did that and what followed next was insane. Three cop cars pulled around me, pinning me in as they asked me to get out of my car and they searched every single part of my vehicle (the trunk, the engine, etc.) They then asked for my drivers ID, my registration and began to ask me a series of detailed questions about where I was going, who I was, why I was in Maryland, etc. After a while they asked me if they even knew where I was which was baffling me the entire time. Turns out, my dumb*** drove up to the National Security Agency. After what seemed like an hour of being asked questions and having the car searched, they finally sent me on my way and even gave me directions to a 7/11. What baffled me was despite the high security risk I technically was and the amount of questioning and searching they did, they never disrespected or even raised their voices at me. Despite how nervous I was they never made themselves out to be ***holes.nnSo, what I'm trying to really say is, the police that safeguard the National Security Agency treat potential threats to them with respect while the officers at Mendham PD treat people like absolute criminals when they pull them over.nnGreat job, for real.
