Ralston Cider Mill

Very educational and very impressive to see equipment still functioning after almost 100 years! The tour guide is very knowledgeable and made it interesting and fun!

This preserved cider mill has a wonderfully hidden still built into the foundation. It survived during prohibition delivering product under the road via pipe to a speak-easy. The bar in the basement across the street, Sammy's, serves a high end dinner to those who first wait in the preserved bar for a table. The place is always busy.

Open only a few Saturdays and Sundays in May, Sept. and Oct. Plan ahead, put the date in your calendar, and make the lovely drive there. (Actual cider pressing is done only one Saturday each year -- I plan not to miss it next year -- but you still get to see the mill machinery in action. Volunteer staff are well-informed and passionate. Great tour, appropriate for adults or children, concluding with a taste of actual cider.

Most interesting to see an old restored cider mill in operation. Great cider, too!
