I did two sandhill crane tours with Dust Trails and both were terrific! We saw loads of cranes, and really got to experience the magnitude of the flock in North Platte during migration. The sound, the dances, the shadows as they fly over. . .it was all amazing. Our guide was Dusty himself, and he gave us lots of good information. It was an excellent experience!nnInsider tips: Don't expect fancy transportation. They use decommissioned school buses. And, if you do a night time tour, dress extra warm and wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring binoculars!
We came for the Sandhills crane migration and weren’t disappointed! This tour provided an up close view of hundreds of birds soaring overhead and congregating on the river. Definitely worth a trip from the other end of the state!
We did both the sandhill crane and prairie chicken bus tour. It was a great experience on both tours. Of course you are at the mercy of the cranes how close you get and how they are behaving. But Dusty was spot on for the prairie chickens. It was awesome to be so close to see their funny dances/rituals and to hear their various sounds. Thanks Dusty Trails!
My wife and I had such a great time horseback riding by the river. Would highly recommend! Perfect for a date.
