We visited last Spring and in a single afternoon my kids and I learned more about Dakota and Minnesota history than would have taken weeks of class room time. So grateful for the historical interpreters who shared story after story with us and made history come alive! The atlatl demonstration was super fun!

Great hiking trail that goes down to the river.
It’s a perfect place to visit on a nice day with the trails. Don’t be fooled by the size of the museum, because we learned plenty in a days worth and were pleasantly surprised. Pick the brains of the staff and watch them light up, because they’re very passionate about the history and culture, and once they know you’re interested, they’ll surprise you with all sorts of interesting information that’s hard to forget. I enjoyed them.
