Riverdale Police Department

Unfortunately my family and I could not enjoy our Fourth of July holiday in peace without two very rude officers threatening us with tickets for fireworks. We as well as everyone had popped a few. One of the officers spoke to me like I was a child and his partner just had the give her two cent. I informed them we didn't have fireworks left and that we had popped them all and even offered to let them look for themselves of course they didn't want to. Come to find out the next door neighbor called the police on us yet her roof is being worked on without a permit and she had fireworks as well. When they left they told me if they come back it would be a $150 ticket for fireworks. I informed them we were all leaving plus we didn't even have anymore so they wouldn't have to come back. I received a call the next day saying that I had a $200 ticket for loud noise (not even fireworks which was what they supposedly came out for) and they left the ticket in our mailbox. What cop do you know that gives a ticket for disturbing the peace (loud noise)and places it in the mailbox without even telling someone to quiet down? If they came back out like they said they did (which is a lie) then they would have saw we all were gone. I had high hopes for Riverdale because I am a new landlord yet this completely ruined my vision. As soon as I got hold of the ticket it had white out on it like the cop that wrote it was just thinking of something to give a ticket for and also a signature of someone unknown on it and it was dirty as if someone spilled something on it. I was disgusted so I went up the station to try and get this resolved but unfortunately the supervisiorcof the cop that wrote the ticket was no help at all he made it very clear to us that he would take his officer's side. So now I'm stuck with a $200 ticket and no explanation for it at all. I was told if I don't pay I would get a court date in the mail. Now I have to miss work for this big mess. I hope the judge can see through this mess. I may bed an attorney. Shameful. They definitely made me appreciate Dolton a little more now.

Terrible department full of crooks. Will lie just to cause you harm. Actually had an officer sit in front my home, watch me while i stood on my porch talking to my neighbor (that was in my home at the time visiting), waited until i left my home, then proceed to get out of his vehicle and ask my neighbor was i bothering her and did she want me arrested. All this after he saw me leave the residence laughing and proceed to get in my car. He claimed he ran my tags and had all of my information. Just the fact that he was prepared to arrest me, a young black woman minding my own business on my own property goes to show how corrupt this police department is. This department is trifling. Full of racist officers that come from Indiana to harass black people in the Village of Riverdale.
