As a grandparent the awareness of lack of professional dress, appearance and pride the teachers are allowed to get away with. I know teachers are yelling and talking down to students. Granted a majority of students are coming from dysfunctional homes and are being treated badly. Their behaviors are passed to the school behaviors. Teacher's spend 90% disciplining students and 10% teaching academics. Things have changed since I went there 50 years ago.

My daughter started at a reading level of 12.4 and was in 2nd grade. She switched schools from NEISD to JISD in May of 2015, by the end of the school year her fabulous teacher - Mrs. Marino had her reading at a 1.4 in just 1 month. This year her great teacher - Mrs. Pierce has her now reading at a 2.3. The Principal is fantastic and the office staff is excellent. We highly support and recommend Ed Franz. We absolutely love it.
