I bought a new house and SJWD is my water company. I get my first bill and they claim I used 75,000 gallons of water. 75,000! I live here with my girlfriend and we both are in our 50ies. I call to dispute the bill. They said they will send a technician out to read the meter in front of my house and he can see what exactly happened. He will have all the answers. The next day the technician shows up. Turns out the builder had been watering the landscaping and the usage dropped the day I closed on the house. He said he would inform the front office and they should adjust my bill. Great News.nThey next day I call the office and speak with Kathy. She had a snarky condescending tone. She claimed the technician made a mistake and I used 75 THOUSAND gallons of water. The same technician they claimed days earlier would have all the answers. I stated I still wanted to dispute the bill, what is the process? She said she would check, then hung up on me. Maybe it was a mistake. She had all my contact info, they just sent someone to my house. I waited 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes. No call back. I call back and ask to speak with a supervisor. They put me threw to voicemail. This was on a Friday. By Tuesday, no call back, so I call again. They said the supervisor is in a meeting and will call me back as soon as he gets out. It is Thursday, still no call back.nIn order for a CSM to feel comfortable speaking to customers this way, it must be condoned from the top. Having a supervisor not return a call must be cowardice or incompetence. This is a public utility and they should be held to some minimum standard. Keep in mind, I set up auto pay. This isn’t about me paying. They will get paid either way. This is about a total disregard for their customers.nI finally got in touch with the manager. They are sending a crew out to change the water meter. I will update or delete this review after the issue is fully resolved.

Over a hr phone wait to pay a bill is ridiculous ! Do y’all just not answer the phones ?

Less than 1 year with this water company and I have had 4 dealings with brown water and air in the lines. SJWD says it’s normal, that it should pass. Just let the water run for a little while. Im paying for that water. Call us back if it don't clear up and they will have someone come out tomorrow to look at it. Really? 15 years with CPW Greer and never had one problem.nUpdate. The last brown water was from a new meter being installed. Shut the water off to the entire subdivision and notified no one. Also left a mess in my yard. I now have a locked lid to the meter with no way to shut off the water from the meter to the house if a line breaks.

My water was brown for weeks and they didnt even pick up the phone! I needed to use bottled water instead
